Not one of the reporters is honest enough to say they haven’t heard any republican claim that cutting spending will “kill” any living being – but that’s all we’ve heard from the democrats. While I might be wrong, I do believe that his bias does effect his ability to do “hard news.” If he feels sympathy or anger regarding a certain subject, because of his liberal leanings, it effect how he writes. That is clearly obvious in his past interviews such as the one where he went light on the New Black Panther racist.

Yes, I saw the Cooper – Paul interview, and was pleasantly surprised to hear some talk about the $14 trillion national debt on CNN. But then Cooper switched the topic to Donald Trump – which seemed a predictable CNN response to a substantive critique of the Democrat spending spree.

It will take rational people to sit down and work together if this country is to survive the mess it is in.

Ron Rayguns did run a deficit but out of necessity although I wouldn’t say it was loved. After Jimmy Carter additional spending was required. While I was in the service of our country at that time there were junior enlisted personnel with families who were struggling to have a reasonable lifestyle. With the cuts in military our income was not keeping to parity with the civilian market. Ronney corrected that problem justly. GWB did it unnecessarily IMO for his own agenda.

I served during the post Johnson days and was happy when Nixon raised E-1 to E-3 salaries–before that, enlisted personnel qualified for welfare & foodstamps, etc. That was a shameful era in government, in my opinion.

As you noted, Carter gutted the military but what most don’t recall is that he also gutted our intelligence infrastructure in the Middle East, as he deposed the Shah. When Carter ordered the military to extract the hostages in Iran, the mission had to be scrubbed because of equipment failures.

Reagan rebuilt our military and our global intelligence infrastructures, but Cliton, through Madame Halfbright, gutted them–and our military–again. As Halfbright was waltzing with Kim Jong Il, she passed on scientific data that eventually enabled the North Koreans to birth a nuke. Later, when GWB received the go-ahead from Congress to invade Iraq, the pain of Cliton’s gutting of the intelligence infrastructure in the Middle East was felt full force–the presence of WMDs could not be verified so the assumption was made that Hussein still had them.

It always seems that Democrats cut the military and intelligence to the bone and the U.S. suffers from their having done so. Then the Republicans have to rebuild everything when they get back into power, while the Democrats whine about the Republicans “wasting” too much money on the military and intelligence. Who knows Rocky, maybe that’s how the US ends up having the best materiel but I’ll guarantee you that we were bit squarely in the ass as the result of Cliton’s gutting of the intelligence infrastructure on the morning of 11 September 2011.
