Perino: Obama ‘Hanging Out With Celebrities And Hedge Fund Managers’ Explains Private Sector Gaffe
Former White House Press Secretary and host of The Five, Dana Perino, appeared on Fox & Friends where she weighed in on President Obama’s press conference from Friday where he said “the private sector is doing fine.” Perino said that Obama is “hanging out with celebrities and hedge fund managers,” which explains why he would say that.

Perino discussed the President’s gaffe and equated it to a similar misstatement made by Sen. John McCain in 2008 when he said “the fundamentals of the economy are strong” following the collapse of the investment firm Lehman Brothers.
“As soon as that happened, and I talked to some folks who worked at the Arlington – in Arlington at McCain headquarters – they knew that at that moment on that day, they were not going to win,” said Perino.
She went on to say that she had a similar feeling when she heard the President say “the private sector is doing fine.”
“When you are hanging out with celebrities and hedge fund managers who are getting millions and millions over the past few months, you do think they’re doing fine,” Perino continued. “If a President of the United States three hours later has to say, ‘I was perfectly clear,’ you’re not perfectly clear.”
