SNL Has All The New Jack Swing You Need For Thanksgiving

Okay, allow me to level with everyone: I love the Time/Life sketches. This week featured a compilation of Thanksgiving-themed new jack swing hits curated by host “Medium Richard,” who was played by Bobby Moynihan. This holiday season we can all enjoy hits such as “Tryptophan Man” by girl group B.L.T. (“Wake the heeeell up!”), “Drippin’ Gravy” sung by Jay Pharoah’s Sweaty Keith and “Adult Table,” a sexually explicit R&B jam performed by Florence Welch in a stunning Day-Glo pleather suit.

I never get sick of laughing at jokes about new jack swing, since it’s definitely one of the dumbest musical movements to emerge from the late twentieth century. Everything in this sketch was beautiful to behold — the tie-dyed baseball cap affixed to Andy Samberg’s crotch as he performed “Upside Down Thanksgiving” as Cross Criss, the professional dancers behind each new jack swing “star” who, despite being highly trained, still looked incredibly stupid executing their choreography, Kenan Thompson singing “I filled up on booty” over and over (which really made me miss “What Up With That”). What can I say? I’m easy to please. I say back the sketch for Christmas so we can see some numbers from the HPV Music Factory and Tony Tony Tony Shaloub.

You can watch the sketch here, via NBC:
