Stephen Colbert Swipes at Own Network For Airing Trump Speech: ‘Tune Into CBS to See B.S.’
Stephen Colbert swiped at his own network CBS for opting to air President Donald Trump‘s Oval Office address in primetime Tuesday night, set to focus on immigration.
“My network will be carrying Trump’s Wall speech live,” the Late Show host wrote on Twitter. “So at 9pm Tuesday, tune into CBS to See B.S.”

Trump announced Tuesday that he intended to deliver a 9 p.m. address what he claims is a “Humanitarian and National Security crisis on our Southern Border.”

Cable networks — CNN, MSNBC and Fox News — said shortly after that they intended to air the speech live. Broadcast networks were more reluctant, and deliberated for several hours before CBS was first to announce it would carry the speech. NBC, PBS, FOX and ABC quickly followed.
But it may not be an all-Trump primetime. Democrat leaders Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi issued a joint statement Monday night demanding equal time to respond to Trump’s address.
“Now that the television networks have decided to air the President’s address, which if his past statements are any indication will be full of malice and misinformation, Democrats must immediately be given equal airtime,” they wrote.
