Watch Hannity Bend Over Backwards Not to Take Sides in Trump-Bannon Feud
On Wednesday night, Sean Hannity briefly weighed in on the newly-ignited feud between President Trump and Steve Bannon.
In a released excerpt of Michael Wolff‘s new book Fire and Fury, the former White House chief strategist ripped Trump’s eldest son Donald Trump Jr. regarding the infamous Trump Tower meeting he had with a Russian lawyer during the 2016 election in hopes of digging dirt on Hillary Clinton, calling it “treasonous” and “unpatriotic” and insisting that Jr. would “crack like an egg” if he were to testify on national television. He struck a much different tone than in previous interviews when he referred to the Russia investigation as a “waste of time.”
The president himself reacted to Bannon’s remarks with a brutal statement, saying that when Bannon lost his job in the White House, he also “lost his mind.” Trump dismissed Bannon as a “staffer” who didn’t actually help him win the presidency and that the only thing he did well was “leaking false information to the media.”
Well, Hannity mentioned it…and he was rather diplomatic.
He accused the media of “hyperventilating” and “foaming at the mouth” over Bannon’s remarks.
“The media loves — loves — Steve Bannon for the moment,” Hannity said. “They love when it when Republicans and conservatives are fighting and create a circular firing squad. In real life they hate Bannon, and they hate Trump. But right now they will be supportive of Steve Bannon if they think he’s advancing their cause.”
Hannity predicted that the Trump-Bannon feud “won’t be a news story” in 48 hours.
