Trump Blames Democrats For Failing to Pass Gun Control Laws Under Obama: ‘Didn’t Want To’

In response to the mass shooting that took place on Wednesday at a high school in Parkland, Florida, President Donald Trump blamed Democrats for not pushing stricter gun control laws when they were in power during Barack Obama’s tenure.
“Just like they don’t want to solve the DACA problem, why didn’t the Democrats pass gun control legislation when they had both the House & Senate during the Obama Administration. Because they didn’t want to, and now they just talk!” Tweeted Trump.

While Trump appears to be passing blame for the shooting off onto Democrats for not acting, the president himself has taken a vehemently pro-gun stance and would presumabely not like any gun control laws to be passed at all. Additionally, despite widespread, bipartisan calls for incremental changes to be made after the Las Vegas mass shooting in 2017, Republicans have done little to explore Second Amendment reforms.
