Astronomer is leaning into its current viral fame, hiring actress Gwyneth Paltrow as their “temporary spokesperson” following their ex-CEO taking over social media after awkwardly being caught cuddling with a co-worker on a kiss cam at a Coldplay concert.

“Hi, I’m Gwyneth Paltrow. I’ve been hired on a very temporary basis to speak on behalf of the 300-plus employees at Astronomer,” Paltrow said in a new video for Astronomer.

The Oscar-winning actress was previously married to Chris Martin, the lead singer of Coldplay. They were married from 2003 to 2016. Paltrow is also known as the founder of Goop, an alternative wellness company that has gone viral for some of its more unusual products.

Andy Byron tendered his resignation with Astronomer following the video making waves on social media. The married Byron was seen at a Coldplay concert in Foxborough, Massachusetts with Kristin Cabot, his company’s human resources chief, when a kiss cam caught them getting cozy. The two quickly and awkwardly ducked out of frame.

“Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy. We’re not quite sure,” Martin said in reaction.

“Astronomer has gotten a lot of questions over the last few days, and they wanted me to answer the most common ones,” Paltrow said in her video promoting Astronomer, a data infrastructure company.

A question was posed to Paltrow in text on the screen: “OMG what the actual f.”

“Yes, Astronomer is the best place to run Apace Airflow, unifying the experience of running data, ML and AI pipelines at scale,” Paltrow responded. “We’ve been thrilled so many people have a newfound interest in data automation. As for the other questions we’ve received — yes! There’s still room available at our Beyond Analytics event in September. We will now be returning to what we do best, delivering game-changing results for our customers. Thank you for your interest in Astronomer.”

In a statement released after Byron’s resignation, Astronomer said their CEO had not lived up to the company’s standards.

“Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding,” the statement reads. “Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met.”
