Kanye West Upstaged Frank Ocean’s New Album With a Poem About McDonald’s
Over the weekend the world had a collective freakout over Frank Ocean‘s highly anticipated new album Blond. With it, he released an equally anticipated zine called Boys Don’t Cry at pop up stores in the United States and London. It’s a 366-pager and included in those pages is a poem by one Kanye West about McDonald’s.

The poem covers the classic themes of jealousy, the difference between good and evil, and the deep mistrust I think we all share of food that smells too good. Here it is, in all its glory:
McDonalds Man
McDonalds Man
The French Fries Had A Plan
The French Fries Had A Plan
The Salad Bar And The Ketchup Made A Band
Cus The French Fries Had A Plan
The French Fries Had A Plan
McDonalds Man
McDonalds
I Know Them French Fries Had A Plan
I Know Them French Fries Had A Plan
The Cheeseburger And The Shakes Formed A Band
To Overthrow The French Fries Plan
I Always Knew Them French Fries Was Evil Man
Smelling All Good And Shit
I Don’t Trust No Food That Smells That Good Man
I Don’t Trust It I Can’t
McDonalds Man
McDonalds Man
McDonalds Damn
Them French Fries Look Good Tho
I Knew The Diet Coke Was Jealous Of The Fries
I Knew The Diet Coke Was Jealous Of The Fries
Even The McRib Was Jealous Of The Fries
I could See It Through His Artificial Meat Eyes
And He Only Be There Some Of The Time
Everybody Was Jealous Of Them French Fries
Except For That One Special Guy
That Smooth Apple Pie
Oddly, the poem’s existence shouldn’t be all that surprising. Complex pointed out that Iggy Azalea hinted that he had written it in an interview with The Guardian back in 2013. She said he refers to his poems as “scriptures,” and that “there was one about McDonald’s…I love it. What is the line between art and ignorance?”
Deep.
