‘AV-Ra-HOM, It’s So Cool!’: Trump Loves Pronouncing Abraham Accords Like an Israeli

President Donald Trump reiterated on Monday that he now loves to pronounce “Abraham” — as in, the Abraham Accords — as “AV-ra-HOM,” because that is how Israelis say it and he thinks it sounds “so cool.”

The president, during his speech before the Israeli Knesset on Monday, took a quick tangent from complimenting his son-in-law Jared Kushner to show off how he pronounces the diplomatic deal.

“I like calling it the Av-Ra-HOM accords,” Trump said, which garnered immediate applause from the crowd.

“Right? Av-Ra-HOM! It’s so cool.”

A moment later, he added, “It’s so much, sort of, nicer, you know.”

He then continued riffing by comparing his new way of saying it with a stern version of the old way:  “The Abraham Accords versus the Av-Ra-Hom.”

This was not the first time Trump has put a twist on pronouncing “Abraham,” either.

He pronounced it “Abra-HOM” last month, when Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the White House; Trump said he was doing it that way because that is how the “real people” say it.

The moment of levity on Monday came soon after Trump arrived in Israel for the release of 20 hostages held by Hamas.

In related news, Trump, during an interview with Fox News on Monday, said he believed the hostage release was accelerated by the U.S. bombing key Iranian nuclear sites in June.

“I think it really started when we took out the nuclear capability of Iran,” Trump told reporter Trey Yingst. “When you look at what they had, you couldn’t have made this deal if somebody is sitting over there with a nuclear weapon over your head.”

Kushner, meanwhile, reportedly played a major role in brokering the Israel-Hamas deal — five years after he was instrumental in getting the Abraham Accords signed. That deal normalized relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.

He said, during a rally in Tel Aviv on Saturday, that he was waiting to celebrate the Israel-Hamas deal until the hostages were released on Monday.

“I could not be more proud to see the way that the State of Israel and its people have carried themselves through this traumatic, unthinkable, horrific experience,” Kushner told the crowd. “Instead of replicating the barbarism of the enemy, you chose to be exceptional. You chose to stand for the values that you stand for, and I could not be more proud to be a friend of Israel.”
