Comedian and pundit Bill Maher tore into President Donald Trump over his demand of a $20 million settlement from his own Justice Department in a scathing monologue.
On Friday night’s edition of HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher, the interview guest was Democratic governor of Kentucky, Gov. Andy Beshear.
The panel guests were Michael Steele, former RNC Chairman and Lt. Governor of Maryland, MSNBC political analyst, and co-host of “The Weeknight”; and Kate Bedingfield, CNN political commentator and former White House communications director under President Biden.
Maher opened the show with a monologue that took aim at Trump over the settlement, the White House demolition, and the extrajudicial bombing of alleged drug boats:
BILL MAHER: Trump is suing America, the country he’s the leader of, I am not making this up, when he was out of office in between the terms when they were putting him on trial and tried to put him in jail, but he didn’t go to jail, America is being sued for attempted Karma.
He even said, this is a quote he said, “I’m suing myself.”.
I was like, I’m just glad it’s not me again. You know what I’m saying?
Uh, so. What else? I’m old enough to remember when America was so boring and normal that we have… What else is going on? Yeah, what else? Oh, he’s demolishing the East Wing of the White House. What else?! He is demolishing the East wing of the White House. And he says he won’t stop until he finds those Epstein files!
Uh, no, no. It’s not for that. No, it’s because we’re putting in a big ballroom. One of the greatest in the world, he says. Did I mention the debt has hit 38 trillion?
Anyway, we’re putting in this big ballroom. Trump, when he first said we’re going to do it, he said it’s going to not actually interfere with the building that’s already there. He said it was going to be near it but not touching it. We’re just gonna put the tip in, you know. Thank you.
