BREAKING: Shooting At Joel Osteen’s Lakewood Church, Gunfire Caught On Broadcast, Shooter Down

Police on Sunday responded to reports of multiple shots fired at Joel Osteen’s Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas. The sounds of gunfire were captured on broadcasts being recorded at the church. The Houston Sheriff’s office locked it down as an active shooter scene and eventually reported that the shooter is down, but was not shot by Houston officers.

Harris County Sheriff’s officers responded to the scene after 2 p.m. local time Sunday afternoon at the mega-church where witnesses reported multiple gunshots being fired. Witnesses who spoke to the press before the scene was locked down reported from 10 to 30 shots, though there is no confirmation at this time of how many shots were fired.

Lakewood posted on X that there was an active situation and that police were on the scene just before 3pm Texas time.

There are no reports of injuries but Sheriff Ed Gonzalez reported the shooter is down about 45 minutes later.

ABC 13 in Houston showed footage that was recorded in the megachurch which captured the sounds of gunfire.

The church was preparing for the Spanish language sermon at the time the shots were heard.

A Family reunification center has been set up near the scene for those affected.

This is a breaking story and will be updated.
