Laura Loomer Breaks With Trump in Rare Public Split Over China Student Visas

MAGA firebrand Laura Loomer declared a rare break with President Donald Trump on Monday night over his vow to expand student visas for China.
Hours earlier, Trump promised 600,000 Chinese students will be admitted to U.S. universities in a stark reversal of the administration’s previous stance.
As recently as May, Secretary of State Marco Rubio promised to “aggressively revoke” visas of Chinese nationals tied to the Communist Party or working in sensitive research.
Speaking from the Oval Office on Monday, however, Trump hailed Beijing as “a very important partner” and insisted, “We’re going to allow their students to come in. It’s very important, 600,000 students. It’s very important. But we’re going to get along with China.”
Loomer shot back that the students were “CCP spies” and, sharing a clip of Trump’s comments, fumed that the “basic math” of the policy undermined the administration’s deportation policies.
In another post, she appealed to White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller:
The decision also infuriated several key pro-Trump loyalists who have long cast Chinese students as potential security risks.
In a rare moment of unity between the two, Loomer’s anger was echoed by her MAGA nemesis, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), with whom she’s had a long-running war of words.
The pledge, announced against the backdrop of fraught trade talks, highlights Trump’s attempt to find balance against his own hardline tariffs.
The president warned China that Washington must secure access to rare earth magnets or face duties of up to 200 per cent, but stressed that students would not be caught in the crossfire of the trade war.
