Macron’s Team Scrambles After Clip of Him Getting Shoved in the Face — by His WIFE — Goes Viral

Élysée Palace has jumped in to dismiss concern over a viral clip of Brigitte Macron pressing her hands against her husband Emmanuel Macron’s face as they stepped off a plane in Vietnam on Monday.

The video, shot by press photographers, shows the French president waiting inside the aircraft. But as the door opens, his wife’s hands appear from the side and momentarily push his face, in what some viewers interpreted as a slap or shove.

Macron briefly falters, then quickly recovers and waves to the assembled press. As they descend the stairs, he appears to offer his arm to Brigitte, who declines and opts to hold the railing instead.

Initially denying that the incident had even occurred, the Élysée later sought to neutralize the story by reframing it as marital banter.

A presidential aide told CNN that the clip showed “a moment of togetherness” and “playful teasing.”

“No more was needed to feed the mills of the conspiracy theorists,” the Élysée source said.

The incident in Hanoi comes as Macron spearheads European diplomatic efforts in Southeast Asia while continuing to press for a united European front on Ukraine.

French news outlets have largely downplayed the clip, shared first by Kremlin-run Russia Today and Belarusian outlet Nexta. The international media soon picked up the story once it began trending on social platforms.
