‘Nasty Little Woman!’ The View Eviscerates GOP Rep. Virginia Foxx for Heckling Their ABC Colleague at Presser
Not surprisingly, ABC’s The View had a grand old time mocking House Republicans for their inability to elect a Speaker of the House, but most of their B-block was devoted to one Republican representative who stood out more than the actual (current) candidate: Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC).
In a clip that was featured on several media outlets, current (as of this writing) speaker candidate Rep. Mike Johnson (R-LA), surrounded by his GOP colleagues refused to answer a reporter’s question about his attempts to overturn the 2020 election. That question was met by boos from the entire crowd of Republicans, with Foxx notably shouting “Shut up! Shut up!” That reporter happened to be ABC’s own Rachel Scott, whom the panel jumped to defend while tearing into Foxx and her voting record:
Sarah Haines: I saw her say, “Shut up,” and I said, 1. right away, the words of this are like another example of what people… We can’t say “shut up” in my house!
Sunny Hostin: By the way, the lack of decorum, and it’s beneath the dignity of that office that she holds.
Haines: Sunny, she gets richer. She voted against aid for Hurricane Katrina, opposes abortion. That one, I’ll forgive her, but has been against every LGBTQ advancement. Opposed the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd [Jr. Hate Crimes Act], voted against Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell. This woman sounds perfect for the job.
Joy Behar: But the best part about her is that she serves as a chair of the Education Committee.
