Trump Crows About Election Change He Believes Will Win GOP a ‘Hundred Seats’ in 2026
President Donald Trump raged against mail-in ballots on Thursday and wildly claimed that if he can get rid of them in the 2026 midterm elections, he believes the GOP can “pick up a hundred seats.”
Trump called into conservative radio host Todd Starnes’s show and made the off-the-reservation prediction, which also included him winning California if not for mail-in ballots.
“The biggest thing we can do—it’s bigger even than the reapportionment. It’s bigger than anything we can do as a party,” Trump began, referencing his call to hold a new census so states’ Congressional seats can be reapportioned based on new data.
“Our elections are extremely corrupt. The mail-in ballots the system is so corrupt. You know, Colorado went to it. You don’t even go to a state that does it, because when they go mail-in, the Democrats—the only way they’re going to win is mail-in ballots. That’s the only way. I say we’d pick up a hundred seats if you had real elections, meaning you go to the voters. I think I would have won California. I think I’d win California right now over that terrible governor,” Trump continued, swiping at Gov. Gavin Newson (D).
“I mean, he is such a pathetic guy, one of the worst. Although Pritzker is pretty bad too—I would say he’s pretty pathetic. But the mail-in ballots and the mail-in voting, and then you put them together with the machines, and you have to—that’s why I said make it too big to rig,” he concluded.
Trump has long been a critic of mail-in voting and voting machines, which he continues to claim are why he lost the 2020 presidential election – despite all evidence to the contrary.
Trump dropped a lengthy social media screed on the topic earlier in the week, writing, “I am going to lead a movement to get rid of MAIL-IN BALLOTS, and also, while we’re at it, Highly “Inaccurate,” Very Expensive, and Seriously Controversial VOTING MACHINES, which cost Ten Times more than accurate and sophisticated Watermark Paper, which is faster, and leaves NO DOUBT, at the end of the evening, as to who WON, and who LOST, the Election. We are now the only Country in the World that uses Mail-In Voting. All others gave it up because of the MASSIVE VOTER FRAUD ENCOUNTERED. WE WILL BEGIN THIS EFFORT, WHICH WILL BE STRONGLY OPPOSED BY THE DEMOCRATS BECAUSE THEY CHEAT AT LEVELS NEVER SEEN BEFORE, by signing an EXECUTIVE ORDER to help bring HONESTY to the 2026 Midterm Elections. Remember, the States are merely an “agent” for the Federal Government in counting and tabulating the votes.”
Dozens of audits and court cases following the 2020 election concluded there was no meaningful voter fraud in that election, which relied heavily on mail-in ballots because of Covid-19.
“They must do what the Federal Government, as represented by the President of the United States, tells them, FOR THE GOOD OF OUR COUNTRY, to do. With their HORRIBLE Radical Left policies, like Open Borders, Men Playing in Women’s Sports, Transgender and “WOKE” for everyone, and so much more, Democrats are virtually Unelectable without using this completely disproven Mail-In SCAM,” Trump continued, adding:
