Trump Reportedly Told a Jewish Donor ‘My People Are Starting to Hate Israel’

President Donald Trump’s MAGA movement has become increasingly critical of Israel in recent months, a trend noted by the president himself, according to a new report in the Financial Times.

MAGA diehards like Tucker Carlson and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) have long voiced their disapproval of Israeli actions in Gaza and urged the U.S. to cut off military aid to its chief ally in the Middle East. But as reports of mass starvation in Gaza have gripped the media, the criticism within MAGA has spread.

Axios on Thursday published a report titled, “Gaza starvation widens MAGA’s rupture with Israel.” The report cited Greene’s constant criticism of Israel, but also noted it has now spread to figures like Megyn Kelly, and was on display at Turning Point USA’s recent student summit.

The FT, however, provided the starkest evidence of MAGA’s growing displeasure with Israel in its Thursday report, which was very much along the same lines as the Axios reporting. The FT’s Abigail Hauslohner reported that Trump has begun to recognize the split:

“My people are starting to hate Israel,” Trump recently warned one prominent Jewish donor, according to a Middle East expert who speaks regularly with the administration.

On Thursday, Greene also continued her push to stop sending U.S. funds to Israel. She wrote on X, “Yesterday I spoke to a Christian pastor from Gaza. There are children starving. And Christians have been killed and injured, as well as many innocent people.”

“If you are an American Christian, this should be absolutely unacceptable to you. Just as we said that Hamas killing and kidnapping innocent people on Oct 7th is absolutely unacceptable. Are innocent Israeli lives more valuable than innocent Palestinian and Christian lives? And why should America continue funding this?” added Greene, who is one of the most successful small-donor fundraisers in the GOP.

She concluded her lengthy post by calling for Congress to stop funding foreign wars during its September budget negotiations. “I sincerely hope Republicans, out on August recess right now, will return in September with a renewed focus to stop funding foreign wars and stop waging the fiscal war against my children and their entire generation,’ she concluded.

Trump remains a close ally of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and has recently hosted him at the White House, but did noticeably break with him earlier in the week by acknowledging the famine in Gaza, which Netanyahu has denied.

A Gallup poll out Wednesday also found that 71% of Republicans approve of Israel’s actions in Gaza – highlighting that talk of a GOP-Israel split may yet be overstated.
