President Donald Trump promised that his controversial new tariff policy will produce “GREATNESS,” and warned naysayers not to be “weak” and “stupid” as fears of a recession grip financial markets worldwide.
“The United States has a chance to do something that should have been done DECADES AGO,” the president said in a Truth Social post Monday morning. “Don’t be Weak! Don’t be Stupid!”
He then proceeded to make up a new moniker for those who don’t believe in his methods: “Don’t be a PANICAN (A new party based on Weak and Stupid people!). Be Strong, Courageous, and Patient, and GREATNESS will be the result!”
Trump’s “Liberation Day” tariffs, announced last week, have spawned a global market selloff. At Monday’s opening, the Dow was down 1,300 points — the third straight day of declines — as the S&P 500 officially entered bear territory.
Futures and foreign markets also plunged over the weekend, setting up a Monday selloff.
