Trump WH Shares Joe Scarborough Raging At Democrats About Crime In DC: ‘So Wrong!’
The “Official Rapid Response” social media account of President Donald Trump’s White House turned to an unlikely source for support of its police takeover of the nation’s capital: MSNBC host and former Republican Joe Scarborough.
On Monday, Trump announced the federal takeover of Washington D.C.’s police in an effort to combat crime and homelessness. Some Democrats responded by presenting statistics showing crime was actually down, which drew the ire of Scarborough and other pundits.
“MORNING JOE SCORCHES DEMOCRATS ON D.C. CRIME DENIAL,” shouted the account of Rapid Response 47 on Thursday. The post included a video clip of Scarborough shaming Democrats for denying there’s a crime problem in Washington, D.C.
“The answer to this problem for Democrats is not, ‘Oh, everything’s OK. There’s nothing to see here. Move along, move along, Oh, Washington has dropped 24% or whatever in crime.'” Scarborough said. “Well, let me give you some other numbers. The Washington Post took a poll in late April, early May. Ninety-one percent of Washington residents say crime is a problem. Ninety-one percent!” Scarborough emphasized.
He added that 51% of Washingtonians said crime “is an extremely serious problem.”
“And…we’ve had people before put this in racial terms. And, I must say, this is something that Democrats have gotten so wrong about crime. So wrong about crime.”
Scarborough read from the Post’s report that said:
“There are stark divides along lines of race and income in the poll, with Black residents and lower-income residents significantly more worried about crime than White residents and those with higher incomes.
“As they were last year, Black women are among the most concerned, with 65 percent saying crime is a very or extremely serious issue, compared with 82 percent who said the same last year.”
Scarborough agreed with Semafor’s Dave Weigel, who argued that D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser, a Democrat, “understands this is a problem.”
“I mean, those are huge numbers,” Scarborough exclaimed.
“So, when somebody comes on TV acting like they’re the champions of Black voters…I think they, as Reverend Al [Sharpton] would say, ‘They need to wake up from being woke,’ and they need to look and see who are the people most concerned.”
