‘Why Haven’t You Guys Fixed it?’ Fox News Anchor Challenges Lindsey Graham On Why He Helped Tank Bipartisan Border Bill

A Fox News anchor challenged Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) after he criticized President Joe Biden over the influx of migrants at the southern border.

Speaking with Shannon Bream on Fox News Sunday, the South Carolina senator teed off on Biden, and what he deems to be a “broken” border.

“The reason the border’s broken is Biden chose to overturn every policy Trump had,” Graham said. “We had the most secure border in December 2020, the most lawless border now because of policy changes by Biden. And it’s not a small deal. It’s a big deal. The largest number of people on the terrorist watch list came in last year, only to be exceeded this year. I’ve never been more worried about a 9/11 than I am now — originating from a broken border started by a terrible decision to withdraw in Afghanistan. The world is on fire, folks, and Biden’s not going to fix it.”

Bream, though, pressed Graham on why the Senate — which, last month, once again voted down a bipartisan immigration bill thanks primarily to GOP opposition — has not taken action.

“So why haven’t you guys fixed it?” Bream said. “That’s what [Biden] says. That right over here in the Capitol that you guys know the problem. You agree there’s a problem and you haven’t fixed it.”

“The bill they introduced was a joke when it came to parole,” Graham replied. he added, “It allowed 5,000 people a day to come. That just incentivizes more illegal immigration.”

Senator James Lankford (R-OK), one of the bill’s architects, has repeatedly said it is false that the proposal would allow 5,000 migrants per day to cross the border. Bream cited Lankford’s comments to fact-check Graham.

“I will say for the record — because we’ve had your friend Senator Lankford on the show — who said that 5,000, once you hit that in a week, everything closes down,” Bream said. “Nobody after that.”
