Tucker Carlson Torches Ted Cruz Over Biblical Justification for Bombing Iran: ‘What Does That Even Mean?’

Tucker Carlson was left scratching his head over Sen. Ted Cruz’s (R-TX) biblical explanation for supporting Israel’s bombing of Iran.

In a fiery in-person interview for Carlson’s alternative media network, Cruz and Carlson debated potential United States intervention in the growing conflict between Israel and Iran, something that has split many MAGA faithful. Some, like Mark Levin, are arguing for a much more aggressive stance with Iran, while others, like Carlson, have questioned whether President Donald Trump is abandoning the diplomatic strategies that were central to his campaign promises on foreign policy.

Carlson released several teasing clips from his Cruz interview before its Wednesday release, including one where Carlson tore into Cruz using scripture to support bombing Iran.

“Growing up in Sunday school, I was taught from the Bible, those who bless Israel will be blessed and those who curse Israel will cursed. And from my perspective, I wanna be on the blessing side of things,” the senator said.

Carlson asked Cruz where in the Bible this line was from, and when the senator couldn’t answer immediately, he informed him, “It’s in Genesis.”

“So you’re quoting a Bible phrase. You don’t have context for it, and you don’t know where in the Bible it is, but that’s, like, your theology? I’m confused. What does that even mean?” Carlson asked Cruz.

In another point in the interview, Carlson similarly pressed the senator on the population and racial makeup of Iran, arguing that those were basic facts that should be known for someone who supports toppling a government.

“Where does my support for Israel come from? Number one, because biblically, we are commanded to support Israel, but number two —” Cruz began as Carlson questioned this line of thinking, as well.

“We are commanded as Christians to support the government of Israel?” Carlson asked.

Carlson and Cruz split on what “those who bless Israel will be blessed” means in terms of supporting the country or the Jewish population overall.

“Define Israel? Do you not know what Israel is? That would be the country you’ve asked like 49 questions about,” Cruz said, saying the line is in reference to the “nation” of Israel.

“Is the nation God is referring to in Genesis, is that the same as the country run by Benjamin Netanyahu right now?” Carlson asked.

“Yes,” Cruz said, then taking issue with Carlson saying Netanyahu “runs” the country, arguing the word makes him sound like a dictator.

“This is still. I’m talking about the political entity of modern Israel,” Carlson eventually said.

The former Fox News host knocked Cruz again for not immediately knowing where the scripture came from and argued he was completely misreading it.

“I’m saying, I think most people understand that line in Genesis to refer to the Jewish people, God’s chosen people,” Carlson said.

“But that’s not what it says,” Cruz countered.

“Okay, Israel, but you don’t even know where in the Bible it is,” Carlson shot back.
