CNN’s Chris Wallace Asks Charles Barkley ‘How Do You Feel About a Rematch Between Joe Biden and Donald Trump?’

CNN anchor Chris Wallace asked NBA legend and soon-to-be CNN host Charles Barkley how he feels about the likely rematch between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump.

Wallace interviewed Barkley for this week’s edition of his Max series Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace  — which now streams exclusively on Max, and is no longer airing a weekly highlights version on CNN. Barkley will co-host the limited series King Charles with Gayle King for CNN later this year.

In a preview clip of their wide-ranging interview, Wallace touched on politics with the self-described “Independent” — who expressed misgivings about both candidates:

WALLACE: Let’s talk about you politically. Because back in the ’90s, you one time talked about running for governor of Alabama as a Republican. (Yeah) I know you’ve been a Democrat for a long time. So where are you politically now beyond the fact that you kind of hate the whole game. Where are you in terms of –?

BARKLEY: Yeah, I consider myself an Independent. (Okay) because I hate the word Republican, Democratic, Conservative, and Liberal, because I think, yeah you can be one of those things. But you don’t think that way on every subject. Like you have to have like, yeah, I think a certain way on this subject that might put me in this box, I think a certain way on this subject that put me in another box. So I really thought hard about running for governor. But then I realized, like, I don’t think either one of these parties are really concerned about people. And that’s what America is, people. It ain’t a box or a slot. Like hey, we disagree. But I ain’t mad at you.

WALLACE: How do you feel about a rematch? Rematch between Joe Biden and Donald Trump?

BARKLEY: I don’t feel good about a rematch. Number one, I don’t think President Trump represents a statesman, civility, things like that. And I think President Biden is too old. I don’t feel really good about either one of them.
