Egypt Coverage Leads CNN To Ratings Win At 10PM

Cable news ratings, February 2, 2011:

•CNN’s Anderson Cooper may have been sore from being punched in the head Wednesday night, but interest in the attack on him and his crew helped propel AC 360 to a first-place finish at 10 and 11 p.m., beating both MSNBC and ratings leader Fox News. At 9, Cooper had 541,000 viewers 25-54, compared to Fox’s Greta Van Susteren who had 475,000 and MSNBC’s Ed Schultz, who drew just 329,000.

•The highly anticipated matchup of CNN’s Piers Morgan and MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow (which ended with a win for Piers Morgan Tonight on Wednesday) may be giving way to an even more intriguing head-to-head: CNN’s Parker Spitzer and MSNBC’s Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell. With Eliot Spitzer hosting an Egypt-focused live hour, P/S attracted 257,000 viewers 25-54, easily beating O’Donnell’s 196,000.
