Bernie Sanders Just Responded to Trump’s Debate Challenge, and Wow, Please Let This Be True
In what might turn out to be the political equivalent of the Rumble in the Jungle, Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders now seem to agree on facing each other ahead of the California primary.
Trump appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night, where he was asked about everything from his previous support of Hillary Clinton, to using aliases in his business dealings. When the discussion turned to how rigged the American electoral system is to both political parties, Trump told Kimmel that if Clinton won’t show up to debate the Vermont senator, he will.
“If he paid a sum toward charity I would love to do that,” Trump said. “If I debated him, we would have such high ratings and I think I should take that money and give it to some worthy charity.”
Trump continued to say that a TV network should pick up the bill for such a charity event, considering his quip about ratings. While nothing is truly set in stone yet, Sanders will be on Kimmel’s show tonight, and he put out a message in the meantime that suggests this could be a real thing:
Game on. I look forward to debating Donald Trump in California before the June 7 primary.
