Bret Baier Presses Kellyanne Conway on Trump’s Attacks on Omarosa: Why Does He ‘Keep Tweeting’?
White House counselor Kellyanne Conway defended President Donald Trump tonight as Fox News’ Bret Baier confronted her about the President’s continued attacks on Omarosa Manigault Newman.
Just this morning Trump called her a “dog”:
When you give a crazed, crying lowlife a break, and give her a job at the White House, I guess it just didn’t work out. Good work by General Kelly for quickly firing that dog!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) August 14, 2018
Baier asked if Manigault Newman is really such a lowlife, “why did he hire her?”
Conway said they’d known each other for years and recalled how much Manigault Newman praised Trump during the campaign.
More broadly, Baier asked, “Why does he feel compelled to keep tweeting about Omarosa? Doesn’t that give more attention to this book and her charges?”
Conway said Trump just wants to defend himself and remind people he gave her multiple chances on The Apprentice and the White House.
Baier specifically asked Conway if she’s comfortable with the idea of the President calling a woman a “dog.”
Conway defended Trump’s treatment of women and said she wouldn’t be “standing here” if he didn’t respect the women who work for him.
