Brian Kilmeade: Vladimir Putin is ‘Embarrassing President Trump’
Brian Kilmeade did not hold back Friday morning when he argued why President Donald Trump is getting embarrassed by Russian President Vladimir Putin amid stalled peace talks with Ukraine.
Trump had promised to end the Russian invasion of Ukraine within 24 hours of getting elected. Administration officials later made clear they were aiming for an end to the conflict at the 100-day mark of the second Trump administration. The peace talks are currently stalled, with Russia recently launching the deadliest missile strike to date on Kyiv earlier this week, which led Trump to plead with Putin to stop the attacks via a Truth Social post that included the odd phrase “Vladimir, STOP!”
The Fox & Friends co-host, who has long enjoyed a close relationship with Trump, was particularly harsh on Putin, but also painted the commander-in-chief in a less-than-flattering light. He also laid out a well-informed and entirely reasonable argument why Putin is acting however he wants and is entirely ignoring Trump’s intentions, which is “embarrassing” to the U.S. President.
“I think you guys know, though, one of the things is Russia is one of our fiercest rivals, I would say adversary,” Kilmeade told Fox & Friends viewers. “And they’ve been cut down to size thanks to the fighting force of the Ukrainians in our weapons and our training in our intelligence. In a way that we didn’t think was possible, the way that were good Ukrainians are fighting has embarrassed Russia to no end.” He noted that Russia is left to forced construction to find soldiers to fight this war, while also bringing in North Korean fighters.
After explaining how Trump is giving Putin an out to the Ukraine invasion, which appears to be, at best, a stalemate for Russia, Kilmeade said, “ Vladimir Putin, I think to a degree, is embarrassing President Trump when he bombed Kyiv in this brutal attack, the worst, you’re watching it now. In a year that was the worst in a year and killed these innocent people.”
“If he’s going to embarrass the president, the president let him know yesterday, he blasted him,” Kilmeade later said. “It’s going to get worse, and there are sanctions queued up. He says it doesn’t help me and doesn’t improve the situation if I tell you what’s going to happen to Russia, but if they continue to undermine peace.
