Chuck Todd Rips Joe Biden’s Hesitation on 2020: ‘Stop Waffling… Make a Decision’

NBC’s Chuck Todd says Joe Biden really needs to hurry up and make a choice on what he’s going to do about the 2020 elections.

Todd joined Andrea Mitchell on Wednesday to talk about President Donald Trump‘s swipes at Biden before the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC). These jabs centered around the recent allegations and the ensuing commotion about the vice president’s questionable physical conduct around women.

When the conversation arrived at Biden’s possible 2020 bid, Todd said Biden has to go public, get serious and take the reins if he really wants to jump into the race.

“If Joe Biden wants to be President of the United States, he needs to stop hand-wringing. He needs to stop feeling sorry for himself or trying to figure out what’s next… Just do something. Decide. If you have something to say, say it.”

Todd continued by saying that the “worst thing” Biden is doing letting himself be defined by others who are talking about the allegations against him. He said this will only get worse for Biden the longer he stays out of the race and only addresses the claims through press statements.

“Stop waffling on the sidelines,” Todd said. “Make a decision and get in.”

In terms of Trump’s comments about Biden, Todd recommended that people stop looking for a “deep motive” from the president’s comments, saying “everything is the moment” with Trump and there’s no “larger grand scheme” to what he says. He made this point by pointing to Trump’s threat to close down the U.S.-Mexico border and the reported efforts by the presidents’ advisers to talk him out of it.

“This is what the White House staff has to spend its day on,” Todd said, “preventing him from causing bigger political headaches.”
