Can you guess which CEO got highlighted as the “worst” today on Fox & Friends? Let’s see, who owns MSNBC? That’s right it’s GE Chairman Jeffrey Immelt. But it wasn’t FNC’s decision – this was based on a Forbes list.

The list, out last week, formulates the rankings based on a specific formula (that put Apple CEO Steve Jobs first). Here’s a breakdown:

The experts calculated a relative shareholder return, in billions of dollars, for the 100 biggest S&P 500 companies with the chief executive in office for at least five years. “Relative,” here, is relative to a random subset of big companies in the same industry grouping. “Return” is a total return (share price gain plus reinvested dividends) applied to the beginning market value of the company.

So what does this mean? Well Immelt is CEO who has made shareholders least rich – out of the biggest 100 companies on the S&P 500. Fox & Friends spent several segments on this, but didn’t get much beyond the basics.

Later, Laura Ingraham was a guest, and was asked about the list. “I’ll leave that to Bill O’Reilly, because that’s really his topic,” she joked, before getting delving right in.

It’s a continuation of the prime time, (well, Bill O’Reilly‘s) attacks on GE…right into the morning. At least they had some fun with Photoshop (see: “Booby Prize” GE button).

Thanks to Jennifer from Detroit for passing along this tip.
