Colbert Trashes Ivanka Trump: She Came ‘Admirably Close to Displaying Empathy’

On Thursday night, Stephen Colbert blasted White House senior advisor and First Daughter Ivanka Trump.

Colbert began by telling his audience that during a recent interview, she came “admirably close to displaying empathy.” He mocked her for calling the separation of illegal immigrant families at the border a “low point” for her but for doing “absolutely nothing” about it.

“Just image how upset she’ll be when the feds drag away Don Jr.” Colbert quipped.

The Late Show host then mocked her response to the question whether she agrees with her father that the press is “the enemy of the people.”

And when asked what Colbert called the “hardest of softballs” of what her highest and lowest points in the White House have been, she initially responded by saying she “loved” getting out of Washington D.C.

“The high point of your job is leaving your job?!?” Colbert reacted. “What a coincidence! That’s my high point of your job too!”

She followed up that remark by saying her “high point” of the Trump presidency so far was helping GOP lawmakers pass tax reform.

“You helped Republicans pass tax reform the way my nephew helps me mow the lawn with his bubble mower,” Colbert said. “Really? What did you do? What do you do?!?”
