Dana Perino Rips Rosie O’Donnell for Donating $1000 to NSA Leaker: ‘It’s Terrible!’
The Five‘s Dana Perino doesn’t often get angry when discussing current events, but Friday night was an exception.
Juan Williams kicked off the segment about Rosie O’Donnell (a vocal anti-Trumper), who recently donated $1000 to the GoFundMe page of NSA leaker Reality Winner and referred to her on Twitter as a “brave young patriot.”
“I feel really strongly about this,” Perino chimed in.
“You want to ruin some more young women’s lives, go ahead and do this and egg them on,” she began. “They will end up in jail. She is 25 years old. She made a huge mistake. She broke the law.”
Perino went on to criticize former President Barack Obama.
“This is a huge consequence of President Obama pardoning Chelsea Manning,” she continued, “because Reality Winner thought, ‘Oh, I’ll be pardoned too.'”
It’s worth noting that President Obama didn’t actually pardon Manning. He commuted most of her 35-year prison sentence, but that’s besides the point.
“I think it’s terrible what Rosie O’Donnell did,” Perino concluded, “Absolutely inappropriate and irresponsible.”
When Perino tweeted about O’Donnell’s actions this morning, O’Donnell responded:
never liked @DanaPerino – i am not egging on anyone – i sent a donation to #RealityWinner –https://t.co/MCnQ1U33vF – she isnt the problem
