Democrat Calls Out Scott Jennings for Taking Offense to ‘Concentration Camp’ Remark: ‘I’m Jewish and It Is Not Offensive’

Democratic strategist Julie Roginsky took exception to Scott Jennings’ taking offense on behalf of Jews during Tuesday’s CNN NewsNight.

Jennings seized on a video of Rep. Hank Johnson (D-GA) strumming a guitar and singing for the release of the Jeffrey Epstein files. The GOP operative also accused California Governor Gavin Newsom of using “forced vulgarity” and alleged that Democrats are “weird.”

“Why cannot they just act like normal people?” Jennings asked.

Former MSNBC host Tiffany Cross responded by reminding Jennings that the Republican Party has its fair share of weirdness.

“Play the clip of Donald Trump with boom, boom, boom, bing, bing, and all the ridiculous, asinine, nonsensical comments that he has made,” Cross protested. “To be honest, I’m not even trying to defend Democrats here. I don’t really care. I’m not a Democrat here. But I think we are looking like a very unserious country on every side. And I think this is one of the reasons why people are so disconnected from the political process. I think if they think playing a guitar in there, like that ain’t it. I can just tell you right now that ain’t it. But I also think Gavin Newsom dropping the f-bomb, that ain’t it.”

Cross then referenced “concentration camps,” where the Trump administration is jailing immigrants pending their deportations:

CROSS: People who are suffering right now, people who cannot pay their mortgage, people who have been separated from their families, people who are sitting in deportation camps, concentration camps, foreign and domestic, those people do not–

JENNINGS: That’s offensive to Jewish people.

ROGINSKY: I’m Jewish and it is not offensive.

CROSS: Thank you.

ROGINSKY: It’s not. It’s not a death camp.

CROSS: Wild. Wild.

CROSS: I wish they were more offended by the action of this administration instead of my language. They should focus on something more important than what I call it and focus more on what’s actually happening to people who are getting disappeared by a government agency. And none of us should ever normalize that like it’s something rational to do.
