Donald Trump Refuses to Say if He Spoke With Fox’s Roger Ailes After Debate
In an interview with MSNBC’s Morning Joe, Donald Trump uncharacteristically refused to answer a question about whether or not he spoke with anyone from Fox News over the weekend to smooth tensions with the network.
“Obviously it’s not in Fox News’ best interest to be in a war with you, it’s not in your best interest to be in a war with Fox News,” host Joe Scarborough said. “Have you talked to [Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes] over the weekend? Have you talked to anybody at Fox News over the weekend about trying to find common ground with the network?”
“Well, I don’t want to say that,” Trump responded. “I will tell you that I don’t think Fox treats me well–”
“Hold on,” Scarborough cut in. “You’re a straight talker.”
“I don’t wan’t to say. Why would I say it? I’m not going to embarrass anybody,” Trump responded stubbornly.
But Scarborough was just as stubborn. “Have you talked to Fox News?”
“My whole life has been led on the theory that I do not want to embarrass people,” said Trump, who has spent his whole life trying to embarrass people.
