Ex-NAACP Head: ‘Offensive’ for Hillary Camp to Think They Can Take Black Vote for Granted

ben jealousFormer NAACP President Benjamin Jealous recently endorsed Bernie Sanders, and on MSNBC tonight he raised some concerns about how much Hillary Clinton‘s campaign cares about the black vote.

He spoke with Rachel Maddow tonight about Clinton’s questionable record on criminal justice reform and contrasted it with how consistent Sanders has been over the course of his life.

Maddow asked if he would feel comfortable with Clinton as the nominee. Jealous said, “I find it offensive, quite frankly, when you see so many Hillary surrogates sort of implying that they can take the black vote for granted. Our vote is precious to us.”

He ripped the Democratic establishment for trying to squash the idea of putting an idealist out there to compete with whoever the GOP puts up.
