Fox Contributors Spar Over NBC’s ObamaCare Segments: ‘Instructional,’ or ‘Propaganda?’

Fox contributors Alan Colmes and Jim Pinkerton debated NBC’s proposed segments explaining ObamaCare on Monday afternoon, disagreeing over they were “instructional” or “propaganda.”

“It’s as though they are promoting gravity,” Colmes said. “It exists. It’s real. It’s here…They’re not promoting ObamaCare. They’re doing what the media is supposed to do: explain what it is. It’s instructional, not advocacy.”

“It’s not as if NBC lifted a finger to help President Bush on some of his new initiatives, like No Child Left Behind, or Medicare Part-D, or the global war on terror,” Pinkerton responded. “They didn’t do anything on those all. But if you go further into the Nancy Snyderman—I’ve watched segments, they’ve already been running some of them on the air—they’re just pure propraganda. She says, if want more information go to either healthcare.gov or NBC News. They’re running the same content on both places.”

“Oh no, not more information!” Colmes cried.

“But Alan,” host Jon Scott said, “if NBC is spending so much time and effort to promote it, how are they ever going to take an honest look at whether or not this thing is even going to work?”

“They’re not promoting it,” Colmes said. “They’re explaining it. The whole verbiage does not accurately what is going on. In terms of the global war on, NBC did a lot of coverage of the global war on terror. This is not as if, ‘I hope ObamaCare passes, I hope we get it through, this is advocacy.’ ObamaCare exists. It’s real. This is an attempt on the part of the media—because it is complicated—to explain to people just what they need to do come October 1st.”

“If ObamaCare does not prove to be very workable, are you going to see that story covered on NBC?” Scott asked.

“I bet you would,” Colmes said. “In fact, if it is not going to work, if it is so horrible, let it not work.”

“I guaranty, Nancy Snyderman will not show the downside of ObamaCare,” Pinkerton said. “She never has, she never will.”
