Fox News Cuts Out of MTG Epstein Presser Once She Criticizes Trump DOJ

After largely ignoring the just-released Epstein files, Fox News cut out of a Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) press event on the matter once she criticized the Trump DOJ.

The House Oversight Committee released over 30,000 documents related to the criminal investigation and eventual death of convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein on Tuesday evening, starting a flurry of journalistic research and speculative coverage across the political media landscape.

The Epstein scandal — and the ham-fisted manner in which President Donald Trump has handled it — has become an enormous political story, not least of which because it’s caused serious friction within the MAGA base, who now seem skeptical that the sitting president might be covering something up.

Yet, Fox News has almost entirely ignored the story apart from a discussion on Special Report in the 6 PM hour — as the House Oversight Committee released the documents, most of which were already public. For reasons that are not yet clear, the editorial and programming executives at Fox News found this particular story not to be worth covering until Rep. Taylor Greene hosted a press conference with Epstein’s victims outside the Capitol building.

Dana Perino introduced live footage of the event, which allowed Fox News viewers a rare glimpse of Republican criticism of the Trump administration. The MAGA firebrand was shown speaking on Fox for roughly two minutes — during which time she said,  “The truth needs to come out. And the government holds the truth. The cases that are sealed hold the truth, Jeffrey Epstein’s estate holds the truth. The FBI, the DOJ, and the CIA holds the truth. And the truth…”

Perino pulled out of the event at that moment,  saying, “So Marjorie Taylor Greene continues speaking at this press conference about the Epstein files, the Epstein victims, as well – a highlight on them today.” She then directed viewers to log on to FoxNews.com to watch the press conference unfold via digital stream, before introducing a segment about the mayor of Chicago being labeled “the worst mayor in America” by the Wall Street editorial board.
