Fox’s Neil Cavuto Blasts Trump’s Hurricane ‘Misinformation,’ Says ‘It Cannot Be Tolerated’

Fox News anchor Neil Cavuto condemned former President Donald Trump for spreading “misinformation” about hurricane aid on Thursday, declaring “it cannot be tolerated.”

During an interview with U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg on the responses to Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton, Cavuto said:

We’ve also got a lot of misinformation, don’t we? We get people who say in North Carolina that if you’re a Republican, you’re not gonna get help, if you’re a Democrat, you’ll get help. I would imagine that does a huge disservice to people working together and scares the bejesus out of others when they believe it.

Buttigieg replied, “Absolutely. I mean, one of the things I’m worried about, the false claim that was going on, for example, that had people believing that if you got $750 in immediate help that, you were never gonna get anything else.”

He noted, “You know, whenever somebody hears that, they believe it, and then they don’t apply for more aid which they could absolutely qualify for. So you know, there are real costs and real consequences to that misinformation.”

Cavuto then pointed out, “Donald Trump said that about North Carolina. Republicans not getting help, Democrats getting help, that was Donald Trump.”

“Yeah, and I think that’s really unfortunate because it’s just not true,” responded Buttigieg.

Cavuto informed viewers:

These monies that you get from FEMA, that’s $750 worth of money upfront for people who can’t access ATM machines, that kind of thing. So it wasn’t just a one-shot, that’s it. It’s a way for people to get hands on cash they desperately need, not the only money they ever get or hope to get. But that kind of misinformation gets out there, and whether it’s perpetrated by a politician or someone you think is someone of note and authority, it is wrong.

He concluded, “And it cannot be tolerated.”

On Wednesday, former Fox News host Bill O’Reilly predicted Republicans would blame Hurricane Milton on President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris because “the truth doesn’t really matter anymore.”

“The Republicans are going to try to blame Biden for whatever happens, and by extension, Kamala Harris. That’s what they’re gonna try to do,” he said. “On both sides, the truth doesn’t really matter anymore with the election three-and-a-half weeks away, so don’t expect any truthtelling from anybody.”
