Glenn Beck: Obama Just ‘Likes’ America

Glenn Beck insisted today that when it comes to the question of whether President Barack Obama “loves” America, he “differs” from Rudy Giuliani in one way: He doesn’t think the president “can love America” because of his “upbringing.”

“I don’t think he loves America, I think he likes America,” Beck suggested, essentially agreeing with Giuliani’s controversial statements. Beck said maybe Obama “loves” America like he “loves” Great Britain — “I love Great Britain, it’s great!” — but he said it’s different from the “deep, stirring love” he has for his home country.

Beck compared the way Obama, who was born in the United States, by the way, feels about the U.S. to the way he would feel about Great Britain if he were for some reason elected as Prime Minster there. “I would be bringing a lot of American ideas to Great Britain,” he said, without pinpointing which country’s ideas Obama is bringing to America.

“I have a deep love for the heritage of this nation,” Beck added. “This president doesn’t have that deep love of the heritage of our nation.”

“I know this is a horrible thing to say,” Giuliani said in his initial statements. “But I do not believe that the president loves America. He doesn’t love you. And he doesn’t love me. He wasn’t brought up the way you were brought up and I was brought up through love of this country.”

Later, the former New York City mayor doubled, tripled and quadrupled down on this point in various interviews with Fox News personalities.

So, basically, Beck doesn’t differ from Rudy Giuliani at all.
