Israeli Parliament Erupts Into ‘Trump!’ Chants as Netanyahu Praises ‘Greatest Friend’

Israeli lawmakers in the country’s parliament chanted President Donald Trump’s name as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared him the nation’s “greatest friend.”

Moments before his own address to the Knesset in Jerusalem on Monday, hours after the release of the 20 remaining hostages held by Hamas, the president was welcomed into the chamber with a 3-minute standing ovation and repeated applause.

Speaking from the plenum, Netanyahu praised Trump’s actions in recent months, including his attack on Iran and, stretching back to his first administration, relocation of the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

The prime minister declared, “My friends, this is only a partial list, but it’s enough to affirm what I’ve said time and again. Donald Trump is the greatest friend that the state of Israel has ever had in the White House.”

As he did, lawmakers erupted in applause chanting, “Trump!”

Netanyahu added, “No American president has ever done more for Israel. And as I said in Washington, it ain’t even close.”

The president’s arrival in Israel came as Hamas released all living Israeli hostages from Gaza, ending a 737-day captivity as part of his peace deal following two years of war.
