James Carville Says the Election ‘Doesn’t Feel Like a Race That Harris Is Gonna Lose’
Democratic strategist James Carville offered an optimistic view of the presidential election for members of his party.
He said he has a hard time seeing how Vice President Kamala Harris could lose to former President Donald Trump.
The opponents are locked in a Tight Race™ that will come down to some combination of swing states: Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
On Monday’s AC360 on CNN, Carville was asked by host Anderson Cooper why it’s so close, given that Trump has lied about migrants eating pets and that his handpicked North Carolina gubernatorial candidate was revealed to have called himself a “black NAZI,” and that he brought Laura Loomer along to 9/11 commemoration ceremonies.
“When you look at just the last couple of months, you have Donald Trump talking about Haitians eating cats and dogs,” Cooper said, “his candidate in North Carolina… talking about himself as a Black Nazi on a porn site. He brought 9/11 conspiracy theorists to 9/11 memorial ceremonies. Why do you think it’s this close?”
“It’s close in the polls, but I’m not convinced that it’s gonna be close on election day,” Carville responded. “If there’s seven swing states, the least likely scenario is it breaks four-three.”
Carville went on to say that every presidential race this century, except 2008, was close until the election itself.
“I could be wrong, but it’s gonna break in one direction or the other,” he added. “I really believe that. Most of the time, these elections do that. And I don’t like to predict elections. I would just say it just doesn’t feel like a race that Harris is gonna lose.”
