Jeff Sessions Speaks Out About Repeated Trump Attacks: ‘We Take That With Great Respect’

Attorney General Jeff Sessions sat down with Fox News’ Shannon Bream Wednesday night and discussed, among many things, President Trump‘s ongoing frustrations regarding the DOJ.

In reaction to Congressmen Trey Gowdy (R-SC) and Bob Goodlatte (R-VA)’s call for a second special counsel to look into the FBI’s potential abuses regarding their use of the FISA court in order to obtain a warrant on former Trump advisor Carter Page, Sessions said he would “seriously” consider their recommendations.

“I have appointed a person outside of Washington, many years in the Department of Justice, to look at all of the allegations that the House Judiciary Committee members sent to us and we’re conducting that investigation,” Sessions said. “I also am well aware that we have responsibility to ensure the integrity of the FISA process. We are not afraid to look at that. The inspector general… has almost 500 employees, most of which are lawyers and prosecutors, and they are looking at the FISA process. We must make sure it is done properly and we are going to do that. And I will consider the request.”

Bream later pivoted to the president’s latest Twitter attack of the attorney general, referring to his supposed inaction as “DISGRACEFUL.”

“Look, the president is the president of the United States. He has a right to criticize and make suggestions to the Department of Justice. We take that with great respect,” Sessions said. “We are determined to make sure the American people have confidence in the FISA process… I say that as long as I am attorney general, we are going to make sure we do those things with integrity and justice as the American people want.”

Sessions also praised Trump because he “moves the ball” and that he has a “remarkable strength” of pushing his agenda everyday.
