Joe Scarborough Reveals Trump Credited Charlie Kirk for 2024 Youth Vote When Host Called To Offer Condolences

Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough revealed President Donald Trump credited Charlie Kirk with mobilizing the youth vote that helped secure his 2024 win during a private condolence call after the conservative activist’s assassination on Wednesday.

Kirk, who co-founded Turning Point USA and was a key architect of conservative advocacy groups on college campuses around the country, was fatally shot during a speaking event at Utah Valley University.

Scarborough shared at the beginning of Thursday’s show on MSNBC that he had called Trump late Wednesday to relay his condolences, knowing that Kirk was a close ally to Trump and a friend of the president’s children.

I spoke with – we talk to the president from time to time, I certainly spoke with the president after Butler, Pennsylvania, to call and offer my condolences and I did the same thing last night because I knew he was close to Charlie.

And he said Charlie was a great man, he talked about how he was a singular talent for this time, especially for the conservative movement. And President Trump even talked about how Charlie Kirk played a huge role in helping him get elected: The voter registration drives, going to college campuses.

You know before the election we were talking about how Republicans were depending on young men to get out to the election. And, you know, that hardly ever happens. It’s usually you focus on older, older voters to get out to the polls and vote – high propensity voters. Younger men, college students were always lower propensity voters. And after the election, people stood back and were shocked. So why did this happen? Well, Donald Trump explained last night, one of the reasons that happened was – told it was because of Charlie Kirk.
