John McCain Hit by Foul Ball at Arizona Diamondbacks Game

A foul ball in Tuesday’s game between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the L.A. Dodgers bounced into the stands, hitting Arizona Republican Senator John McCain. The ball appeared to do no damage, and McCain laughed it off.

Dodgers photographer Jon SooHoo captured the moment perfectly.

A lot of outlets went with headlines saying McCain had “muffed” or “missed” catching the ball. But it’s worth noting that McCain suffered torture at the hands of the Viet Cong that left him unable to lift his arms above his head.
