MAGA CNN Guest Says Trump Can’t Be Bribed Because ‘He Took a Hatchet to the World Economy’
A guest on CNN NewsNight offered quite the reason for why President Donald Trump cannot be bribed.
Batya Ungar-Sargon of Newsweek defended Trump over a dinner he held with more than 200 investors in his cryptocurrency on Thursday night at Trump National Golf Course in Virginia. Three weeks ago, the president announced that the top 220 holders of his $TRUMP meme coin would be able to attend the private gathering. Unlike political fundraisers, the contest was not governed by campaign finance laws and the money is enriching Trump personally. In all, investors lined the president’s pockets with $394 million. Most of the dinner guests are not publicly known, and White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt was noncommittal when asked if the White House would make the names public.
On CNN, Abby Phillip asked Ungar-Sargon, “Batya, how does this land for you?”
“I was feeling worse about it until I found out that he spent all of 68 minutes with 200 people,” she replied. “I don’t think you can get a lot of bribery in if you’re competing for that kind of time.”
The other panelists cackled at her Herculean effort to downplay the matter.
“Here’s how I’m thinking about it, Abby,” Ungar-Sargon continued. “You know, no one who voted for him, I don’t think, thinks that he is a person who can be bribed easily, certainly after he took a hatchet to the world economy. That solidified that in my mind, that he has his view of what he wants to do, and he’s gonna do it. What this is, is the appearance of something. So, if somebody like you, who’s not convinced that he can’t be bribed, would look at this and say, ‘Look, I have no reason to believe him.’ And that is true.”
Ungar-Sargon went on to say that she is “balancing” the crypto dinner with Trump’s “epic” achievements.
“And only he could have done it,” she added. “Like the 10% global tariff that we now have that’s generating billions of dollars in revenue, deporting gangbangers and Hamas supporters, defunding Harvard. You know, securing the border.”
