Mark Steyn Asks If Dog Dying on Flight Means a Flight Attendant Wouldn’t Hear ‘Guy Going Allahu Akbar’
Conservative commentator Mark Steyn was very passionate about the story regarding the dog that died on United Airlines after it was placed in an overhead bin during an entire flight.
Fox Business anchor Cheryl Casone, who previously worked as a flight attendant, told Tucker Carlson that “never in a million years” would a flight attendant knowingly put any living thing in an overhead bin.
But Steyn expressed there was plenty of blame to go around.
“It might well be true that the flight attendant did not hear what the passenger was saying that there was a dog in the carrier,” Steyn said, “and it might well be true that the flight attendant did not hear any barking. But then again, you’d have to think, well, that means she wouldn’t hear the guy going ‘Allahu Akbar.’ She wouldn’t notice the sound of him striking the match as he attempts to light his shoes.”
As a dog owner himself, Steyn was “annoyed” by this news story partly because the passengers as well as the dog owner didn’t do anything to save the dog.
“If you hear a dog in a compartment, you don’t record it on your cell phone. You don’t tell a reporter afterwards that you heard barking,” Steyn continued. “You stand up like a free born citizen and you liberate that animal!”
Casone pushed back a bit on Steyn’s demand, saying that “interference with a flight crew” is a federal offense and could lead to heavy fines.
“That’s why we have to end this because we’re training human beings, we’re training free born citizens to behave like domestic pets!” Steyn exclaimed. “This is the post 9/11 environment, as a result of which, we still let in guys who runs on people on the New York bike path and blow up Christmas parties in San Bernardino, but we shuffle shoeless like animals. Generally speaking, if you see someone without shoes in public, it’s an animal. We have turned ourselves into animals in this post-9/11 environment.”
“That’s so true,” Carlson agreed.
