Mika: Hillary’s ‘Condescending’ Email Defense Relies on ‘People Not Being Smart’

MikaOnce again, the panel of MSNBC’s Morning Joe tore into Hillary Clinton’s defense of her use of private email, with co-host Mika Brzezinski calling it insulting to voter’s intelligence.

“This Clinton email controversy just keeps growing by the day,” co-host Joe Scarborough observed to Bloomberg Politics’ John Heilemann.

Heilemann agreed, saying the campaign was actually in a worse place than they were before they began an aggressive PR push. “The questions of substance being raised are overshadowing the efforts to try to beat it back, whether you call it spin or whatever. The public relations campaign is being superseded by the progress of the story in terms of actual facts.”

Scarborough said the Clinton campaign’s strategy relied on their supporters blocking out all other negative news, which even his liberal co-host agreed with. “This is a strategy that is basically dependent on people not being smart, which I think is really condescending,” Brzezinski said.

“Let’s back up to whether or not having your own server at your home and then based out of the bathroom in Colorado was policy,” she said. “Was it? Can anyone here at the table tell me that she followed policy? Look me in the eye and tell me that she followed policy and didn’t break rules.”
