Morning Joe Guest Elisabeth Bumiller Warns Trump’s ‘2-Week’ Delay Puts Israel in ‘Tough’ Situation

Morning Joe guest Elisabeth Bumiller warned that President Donald Trump’s “two-week” delay in making a decision on U.S. involvement in the conflict with Iran has put Israel in a “really tough strategic situation.”

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed on Thursday that the president would make up his mind on Iran “within two weeks.” UK and European leaders have called the pause a “diplomatic opportunity” and met with Iranian officials on Friday in a bid to secure a ceasefire between the two nations.

However, as the two powers continue to exchange missile strikes, likely to continue while Trump mulls his options, Bumiller, who works as New York Times writer-at-large, warned that the president’s inaction could put a strain on Israel’s military resources in defense and attack.

Appearing on Friday’s Morning Joe, she told the MSNBC crew:

So, I also wanted to say something about Trump’s decision for the two-week delay, if that’s what it is. It’s just that it puts Israel in a really tough strategic situation right now, because that means the war continues. Israel, as we know, is quickly running out of Interceptors to intercept the missiles that Iran is lobbing.

So it’s a question of who has more missiles, who has more Interceptors, but it’s a tough decision. And Netanyahu now is making noises about going it alone and trying to dismantle Fordow somehow with Israel alone, either with bombs or he’s talking about perhaps, you know, commandos going in and doing it manually. So that is going to be something to watch over the next two weeks. He was really hoping that Donald Trump would come to his aid and that has not happened so far.
