Nikki Haley Says She’d Back Trump in 2024 Immediaitely After Saying ‘Chaos Follows Him Everywhere He Goes’

Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley says former President Donald Trump should not be reelected because “chaos follows him everywhere he goes” — but she would still back him if he’s the nominee in 2024.

On Wednesday, Haley joined the panel of CNBC’s Squawk Box to discuss the current state of the Republican primary. Haley is polling in third nationally, according to Real Clear Politics.

Network anchor Joe Kernen asked Haley if Trump’s actions after losing the 2020 presidential disqualified him from serving in the Oval Office again. Haley dodged directly answering the question but said “he is not the right president going forward.”

“I do think he was the right president at the right time. I don’t think he’s the right president going forward,” Haley said. “Chaos follows him everywhere he goes. Chaos follows him. And in a time where we need to start getting our act together. Do we really want to go that route? I don’t think we do.”

Haley then claimed that although Trump is beating President Joe Biden in recent polling for swing state elections, she also leads the likely Democratic nominee by a wider margin. Haley then argued that if she’s the nominee Republicans are more likely to have a wider victory in the House, Senate, and gubernatorial elections.

However, CNBC panelist Melissa Lee inquired whether Haley will stick with the GOP pledge to support the nominee even if it is Trump.

LEE: If he becomes the nominee, do you support him?

HALEY: I’ll support the Republican nominee. I mean, I think that’s important that we support the Republican nominee because I think anybody is better than Kamala Harris at this point.
