Obama Criticizes Protesters’ ‘Misguided Attempts to Shut Down’ Trump Rallies
President Obama delivered some remarks earlier today in which he criticized both the concerning rhetoric coming out of Donald Trump‘s mouth and the “misguided attempts” by protesters to shut down his speech.
“We have heard,” the president said, “vulgar and divisive rhetoric aimed at women and minorities and Americans who don’t look like us or pray like us or vote like we do.”
No, he didn’t mention The Donald by name, but it was pretty clear who he was referring to.

Obama went on to say, “We’ve seen misguided attempts to shut down that speech. However offensive it may be, we live in a country where free speech is one of the most important rights that we hold.”
He condemned the silence from political leaders on the subject and said that “all of us are responsible” for fixing this toxic climate, even if some are more to blame than others.
