Obama Dismisses Spat with Warren, Other Dems on Trade: This Isn’t Personal

During a press conference earlier tonight, President Obama addressed his very public squabble with Elizabeth Warren and plenty of other Democrats over trade, insisting it’s not personal.

It’s come incredibly close to that, with Obama dismissing Warren as another politician trying to stake out her position on this issue, and one of Warren’s colleagues pretty blatantly suggesting the president was being sexist against her.

Today Obama said that it’s “never been personal” and jabbed the press a bit for trying to stir the hornet’s nest. In truth, the president explained, it’s just a simple difference of opinion on policy with people “whose values are completely aligned with mine.”

Obama went through the list of concerns liberals have outlined about the free trade initiative and insisted that it will be better off in the long run than some allies are suggesting.
