Rep. Anthony Weiner On Libya Bombing: ‘The President Should Have Come To Congress’
New York’s Rep. Anthony Weiner (D), and Dennis Kucinich have something in common: Both feel quite strongly that President Barack Obama should have turned to Congress before deciding to use military force in Libya.
Stopping by Lawrence O’Donnell‘s program tonight, Rep. Weiner shared that, while he’s generally in support of the decision, those in Congress are not “potted plants” and that, according to the Constitution, the President has an obligation to seek their approval before taking military action in another country (Aka embarking on a “NotWar.” Weiner, for one, refers to our efforts in Libya as “essentially an engagement of war.”)
Weiner disagrees with Kucinich, however, over the question of whether Obama’s actions are impeachable, saying that Kucinich goes “too far” where that is concerned.
