Republicans Up in Arms After Texas Dem Makes Throat-Slash Gesture While Vowing to ‘Wipe’ Them Out

Texas state Rep. Jolanda Jones (D) kicked up a hornet’s nest with Republicans after she appeared on CNN and made a throat-slashing gesture while declaring Democrats need to fight harder to “wipe out” Republicans.

In a Wednesday interview with CNN’s OutFront, Jones, who is running for a U.S. House seat, rejected Michelle Obama’s famous mantra, “when they go low, we go high,” claiming that President Donald Trump is “at war with America.”

Jones told Burnett:

I’m from the ‘hood, okay? So when a bully comes, like, if there are no rules, you literally have to figure it out. So Donald Trump has changed things, and people trying to do what’s always been done is not going to work. And I think that’s why Democrats are losing Black people. That’s why they’re losing poor people, because poor people all they want is for us to fight. So if you hit me in my face, I’m not going to punch you back in your face, I’m gonna go across your neck.

Jones ran her hand across her neck when she said, “I’m gonna go across your neck.” The Democrat then declared Democrats need to “wipe out” Republicans, though she was speaking about elections and state congressional maps being redrawn.

Jones added:

When the first lady said, when they go low, we go high, I’ve never subscribed to that. Because in the ‘hood that I come from, when they go low, if you go high, they’re going to take your feet out from under you and you will not recover from that. And so you’ve got to fight like we’ve never fought before. This country is under attack.

Jones has since received plenty of backlash, especially in the aftermath of the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

“Congressional candidate Jolanda Jones ‘lowering the temperature’ by talking about slicing our throats,” Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) wrote on X. “Yeah, last I checked all we are doing is lowering your taxes, securing the border, and finally taking out drug cartels. If that makes you mad, you might be a little crazy.”

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt called the interview “jarring and unacceptable” during a press conference.

“It’s very jarring rhetoric and I think it’s very unacceptable. I hope the people of Texas will do the right thing and reject this person’s candidacy. It should have no place in American politics,” she said.

On Fox & Friends First, Fox News contributor Joe Concha predicted no Democrats would condemn Jones’s comments and he joked she could have a new gig thanks to her divisive rhetoric.

“Trust me, she will be the co-host of The View within a week,” he said.

“This is the exact type of rhetoric that got Charlie murdered BY A SHOT TO THE NECK!!” Turning Point USA’s Andrew Kolvet wrote.
